Awards are in the air once again for one of Newtown’s theatre groups.

Newtown Musical Theatre Group has had multiple nominations for the NODA Awards - National Operatic and Dramatic Association).

NMTC’s production of Sondheim’s ‘Into the Woods’ has three nominations, which are for Best Production, Best Technical and Stage Management and Best Youth Performance for Lex Urry who played Jack (of beanstalk fame).

Gaenor Bowen’s performance as Martha in the NMTC autumn production of ‘White Christmas’ has also been nominated for Best Performance.

“Now the wait is on. Results are not announced until May so watch this space,” said theatre spokesperson Rob Jones

Meanwhile you can see the company in action in ‘Peter Pan - A Musical Adventure’ by Stiles and Drewe to be staged at Hafren Newtown April 27th to 29th.

“This is a really exciting and colourful show based on JM Barrie’s play. Although it is not a pantomime the show is full of fun from beginning to end and the music will carry you away to Neverland and back,” added Rob.
