24/10/2016 @ 10:40

Over £11,000 has been presented to community groups in Newtown as part of the latest round of funding from Newtown Town Council’s Community Grant Fund.

So far this year £22,000 has been presented to groups in the town through the fund which supports groups and project that make a positive impact on people and the community.

“A thriving community is not necessarily created by doing things for it, rather by enabling people to achieve it themselves,” said Cllr David Selby, Chair of the council’s Resources Committee.

The Mayor of Newtown, Cllr Richard Edwards, said the fund was proving a success. “It is fantastic that we are able to support so many organisations and projects in the town. Since the grant was rebranded it has been a great success.”
