Walkers take to the towpath

 - created on 11/07/2012

Eighteen walkers have enjoyed a walk along the Montgomery Canal towpath as part of Powys County Council's Trail Tempters walk programme.

'Along the Monty' was the latest walk in the programme. The walk was led by Stuart Moodie and Alex Ball from the newly formed Canal and River Trust, who pointed out interesting wildlife and history along the five mile walk from Berriew to Welshpool.  Fortunately the weather remained dry for most of the walk and for the lunch stop at Belan Locks.

The next walk in the programme, arranged by the council’s Countryside Services Team and jointly funded with the Countryside Council for Wales, takes place on Saturday 21 July near Churchstoke.  ‘The Tale of Two Hills’ is a strenuous 5.5 mile walk around Roundton and Corndon Hills.

To book your place on this walk, telephone 01597 827567 before Friday 20 July or for more details of the whole programme visit
