16/02/2016 @ 08:49

Local businesses are being urged to visit an eye-catching 23-ton, 40ft-long Export Hub truck when it motors into the area on Wednesday next week (24 Feb) to help local businesses grow their markets overseas.

Welsh Government Economy Minister Edwina Hart is urging businesses in Powys to get on board and meet the export experts at Cefn Lea, Dolfor, where they can get advice on all aspects of exporting.

Companies of all sizes will get real-time export opportunities, face to face advice and expertise to support them at every step on their exporting journey.

The Export Hub will be open for businesses between 10am and 2pm and will include a market expert from China.

Encouraging local businesses to take advantage of the opportunity in Newtown, the Minister said: “Exports are vital for the economy and in Wales account for more than £11bn annually, delivering significant benefits for those businesses.

“The decision to export can undoubtedly be a big step for many companies but exporting can deliver significant rewards and open up a new, world-wide market for companies’ products and services. The Export Hub roadshow is there to provide face-to-face advice and help and support Welsh businesses at every step of their export journey.

“The Export Hub tour complements the Welsh Government’s extensive export support programme that includes overseas trade missions and visits.

“In the current financial year 93 companies have so far secured more than £72m in export business as a direct result of Welsh Government support. This is a £20m increase on the previous year - we want that upward spiral to continue and help more businesses benefit from exporting.”

The Export Hub tour of Wales is a joint initiative between the Welsh Government and UK Government. It is part of the UK-wide Exporting is GREAT campaign to get more businesses exporting.

The Hub is equipped with the latest technology including interactive touch screens, handheld touchscreens, computers, wi-fi, a private Skype zone, a large format presentation screen, small meeting booths and a networking/meeting space for 40-50 people.

Businesses can sign up for pre-booked drop-in sessions and one to one meetings with market experts – some of which will be carried out via Skype linking businesses to experts overseas.

Companies wishing to attend the drop-in sessions or book 1-2-1 sessions need to register their interest at: www.businesswales.gov.wales/zones/export/export-events where further information is available on the venues.
