Retailers and food and drink premises in Newtown could benefit from business rate relief up to £1,500.
Powys County Council us urging businesses in the town and throughout Montgomeryshire to apply.
The Wales Retail Relief Scheme will provide up to a £1,500 discount on the business rates bill to all qualifying retail premises with a rateable value of less than £50,000.
The Welsh Government has provided grant funding of £848,000 to award to Powys retailers this financial year.
To date the council has awarded £550,000 to 450 Powys businesses, with a further £300,000 yet to be claimed.
Cllr Wynne Jones, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “With the retail sector changing and many high streets adapting to consumer preferences in how people shop, this scheme aims to support Powys businesses that are responding to the challenges that result from this changing retail environment.
“Not only will it provide assistances to many businesses during this current economic situation, it will also inject money into the Powys economy, support jobs and contribute to the development of sustainable and vibrant town centres.
“I would urge our retail premises that qualify to apply for this relief. We will continue to work closely with the Welsh Government to deliver real economic benefits for the Powys economy.”
