Wild Women group launched

Wild Women, a group focused on mentoring enterprising women in Mid Wales to achieve success, has been launched.

Hosted by COWSHACC Community Centre in Welshpool, over 60 guests attended a launch night, including local politicians, business owners, third sector organisations and local community members.

“Mentoring and training enterprising women to achieve success is the key to growing a successful local economy that works for everyone,” said Lesley Long, Director and Founder of the Wild Women Enterprise Co. Ltd.

Sally Fitzgerald, owner of Fitzgeralds Hair Salon and Louise Macken Director of Footsteps Day Nursery told their stories to demonstrate just what a difference the Wild Women have made in such a short time.

“Before I came to the Wild Women meetings I was like a swan paddling in treacle, putting on a good front to everyone, while ignoring what I should have been dealing with head-on,” said Sally.

“Then I started one to one mentoring and I found myself again stronger, positive, confident and knowing where I want to take my business in the future.”

Louise explained the importance for the local community. “Wild Women support each other in growing their business through collaboration and gaining self-confidence,” she said.

“By working together, women are able to develop their skills, increase their network of contacts and promote each other’s businesses. Energising our community becomes a communal goal.”

The Wild Women group is now looking for members of the community and local businesses to volunteer their expertise as mentors or to make a pledge to help with the DIY SOS fit-out of the company’s new basecamp office at Llanerfyl Village Workshops.
