Deadline for business awards

29/06/2015 @ 08:40

The deadline to enter the county’s prestigious business awards is looming.

D-day is Tuesday, 30 June and organisers have called for businesses to ensure that their entries are in by the closing date.

With lots of new categories this year including Best Use of Digital Technology Award, the judges are keen to see how Powys businesses have embraced the roll-out of Superfast broadband across the county.

Organisers have also confirmed that Iolo Williams will return as the host for the 2015 gala dinner, taking place on Friday, 25 September at Newtown’s Hafren.

“I had the pleasure of hosting the Powys Business Awards in Brecon in 2014 and was very impressed with the number and diversity of businesses in the county.

“For such a rural community, Powys can boast several world-leading businesses amongst its ranks and as a Powys lad, this makes me immensely proud,” Mr Williams said.

It has been another busy year for last year’s winner CellPath Ltd after they scooped the top prize back in October 2014.

The company is planning for future additional facilities which will be due for completion at the end of 2015 and developing exciting new innovations, designed to improve the experience of its customers.

The company picked up both the Innovation Award and Powys Business of the Year title when the awards ceremony was held at Derring Lines in Brecon.

“Following our notable double win at the Powys Business Awards 2014 this created an immediate buzz within the company and helped to set the company on its front foot in all areas, leading to winning a national Welsh award,” said Philip Webber, Joint Managing Director

The Newtown-based company provides an innovative range of services for cellular pathology, employs over 60 staff and has an annual turnover of £7 million.  They have been delivering healthcare products and services since 1990.

Specialising in the manufacture and supply of histology and cytology products, CellPath branched out in 2004 to establish its CellNass archival storage facility, which has grown rapidly to meet the needs of hospitals to store slides, blocks and other cellular pathology materials off-site.

All finalists in the awards receive exposure to a great deal of publicity in all media, a professionally-produced dvd, the opportunity to benchmark their company, and the chance attend a great networking event at the awards ceremony.
