Boost farming business with a brekky

Local residents are being urged to regularly take breakfast, not only for health benefits but to boost the farming industry.

The Farmers Union of Wales (FUW) is supporting the Farmhouse Breakfast Week from January 23-29 and its Montgomeryshire-based President, Gareth Vaughan, says locals can play their part after it was revealed that as many as one in four people regularly skip breakfast.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast and demonstrate the variety of food on offer.

“Wales is renowned for the quality and freshness of its food and during the next few weeks I am really looking forward to showing off the best of our produce at centres of Government in Wales, Westminster and Brussels," said Mr. Vaughan.

The union’s annual Welsh farmhouse breakfasts this year will take place at the National Assembly's Senedd building tomorrow (Tuesday), the House of Lords on January 25 and the EC headquarters early next month.
