6,000 social media followers

The figures have never ceased to amaze us since we launched a little over two years ago but today’s latest landmark can only be described as INCREDIBLE!

As you will know, MyTown Media Ltd, the mother company of MyNewtown, launched two more sites last week – MyBrecon and MyRadnor – to join us and MyWelshpool in leading Powys into a pioneering era of local news delivery.

You will notice too that the company image had a little spruce up with a new masthead and brand mark to reflect our dynamism and professional ethics.

And it certainly seems to be making an impact as this week we have welcomed our 6,000th social media follower, a staggering figure considering the county is regarded as one of the most ‘unconnected’ places in Britain.

Our four sites' Facebook and Twitter pages play a key role in our success story and residents have signed up in their thousands so that they can be alerted when news is breaking, or simply feel the need to comment on stories or let us know when something is happening.

The introduction of our new sister sites has pushed us past the magic 6,000 milestone with hundreds of new friends in Breconshire and Radnorshire now enjoying what you have embraced for the past two years.

We have welcomed a growing number of advertisers of late too who have recognised the value-for-money benefits that working with us provide and it is thanks to them that we can always remain a free service for you. All we ask is that you spend a little time of your week supporting them by seeing what they have to offer.

But we believe the best is yet to come. Our team consists of the most experienced journalists available on their patch backed up by the finest technical expertise to be found anywhere in the UK market. This will in turn ignite our most ambitious project to come yet in the New Year... watch this space as they say!
