Loyalty initiative passes 1,500

A loyalty card scheme launched in the summer to boost trade at local shops has welcomed its 1,500th member.

Shops in Newtown, Welshpool, Llanidloes, Montgomery, Llanfyllin and Llanfair Caereinion have already signed up to allow holders of the Local Loyalty Powys card to receive discounts and this Friday a marketing push in Newtown aims to attract more members here.

Local Loyalty Powys Manager, Rachel Hitchcock, said: “Membership volume has suddenly taken off, and I have just had to order another 1,000 Membership cards to keep up with demand. This is great news for participating Local Loyalty Traders, and I want to make sure these Traders are properly supported and appreciated for the special offers they are giving our Members.”

Rachel and Local Loyalty’s Mascot, Jim (pictured) will be out and about on Friday and next Tuesday, where they will be visiting various Traders to ensure an ample stock of Membership cards is available. And as a further boost in the run-up to Christmas, the cards will be free of charge.

“The scheme aims to encourage local people to save money in local businesses and we are looking to bring more towns and businesses on line in the coming weeks,” added Rachel.
