At least £440 has been raised for charity thanks to a prize draw held at last Saturday's Christmas event held in Newtown.

The Kicking Off Christmas event, which included a festive village in the Town Hall grounds and the official switch on of the lights, was declared a success by the Mayor, Cllr John Byrne.
Town councillors have praised local businesses and organisations for supporting the event and providing prizes for the draw which was held during the evening.
The prize draw will raise money for Rekindle and the carnival trust committee.
At the full council meeting held last night, Cllr Margaret Lewington, one of the lead councillors on the event, said: "I would like to thank all the local organisations for providing prizes."
Cllr Lewington said some prizes hadn't been collected. The town council will publish the winning ticket numbers to let winners know.
