Slitting Operative 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Wipak UK. We are looking for a Slitting Operative to work within the Production Department based at Welshpool, working a three shift rotating pattern consisting of 12 hour days and nights. 

Position Overview:

This role is part of the Production team, with the Operator responsible for operating a slitting machine and ensuring materials are produced at the right time, to the right specification and within budgeted targets.  

The slitting process takes place once the film has been printed and laminated. The reels of film vary in size and are then slit down into smaller reels, before being packed and sent to the Warehouse and despatched to customers.

Ideal candidates for this position will possess experience of basic machine operation (although training will be given), and they will be familiar with/fit with the current culture of being flexible and multi-functional.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·         Ensure daily production targets are met through correct monitoring and recording

·         Ensure all materials meet current quality standards/customer requirements

·         Ensure production facility is set up to correct parameters

·         Ensure materials/tools are available for efficient production requirements

·         Responsible for basic TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activities

Characteristics and Requirements

·         Experience within a production environment is preferred, preferably with experience of automated processes

·         Experience of working as part of a team and a flexible approach to work is essential, including the ability to work the required shift pattern in-line with the business needs

·         Applicants should be conscientious and have experience of checking products to ensure they meet quality standards

·         Sound verbal and numerical skills are required for this position

·         Applicants must have a good attendance and time-keeping record

·         Good communication skills are essential

·         Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing processes would be an advantage

·         Basic PC skills are required

·         Full SAP training will be provided
