Two of Newtown's main estate agents and chartered surveyors are merging.

Morris, Marshall and Poole (MMP) and Norman Lloyd have merged in a deal that will see a single business created, incorporating Welshpool Livestock Sales (WLS), one of the UK’s largest livestock marts.

The merged businesses will be named Morris Marshall and Poole with Norman Lloyd bringing together the local expertise of both businesses specialising in residential, commercial and agricultural property and land services throughout Powys, Shropshire, Ceredigion and south Gwynedd.

The existing Norman Lloyd office in Broad Street, Newtown will close, with staff relocating to the nearby MMP office. The Norman Lloyd office in Llanidloes will also close, with staff moving to the town's MMP office.

“The merger is a key part of our ongoing investment in growing the business and providing our customers with the best possible service.” said Tony Evans, a partner at MMP.

“We provide a physical high street presence as well as an interactive online service, ensuring our customers always have someone to meet and deal with personally. The larger and strengthened team adds to that provision.”

He added: “The expanded team allows the merged business to specialise in many parts of our business meaning that our customers have the benefit of someone who fully understands the issues at hand can advise, guide and  act on their behalf in a knowledgeable manner and add extra value to our customers in our work.”

David Jones, a partner at Norman Lloyd, said: “MMP and Norman Lloyd are two well-established and respected business in the area with obvious synergies. By integrating the businesses, we will be adding to the benefits we can offer our existing clients, as well as future customers.

“The merger of the two firms will expand the Partnership and staff levels to provide an unparalleled team in the area with a wealth of local knowledge of the market place. Marketing resources online will cover all of the major portals including Rightmove, Zoopla, Prime Location and On the Market.”

Norman Lloyd offices at Newtown, Welshpool and Llanidloes will transfer to the existing MMP offices in these three towns. Its Bishop’s Castle office will become part of the MMP network, with offices at Llanidloes, Newtown, Welshpool, Aberystwyth, Oswestry, Machynlleth, Rhayader and Tywyn and a presence in Aberdyfi.

This year MMP opened a dedicated lettings office at Back Lane in Newtown where it lets and manages a portfolio of nearly 800 properties in Mid Wales and Shropshire. It also opened a new office in Rhayader.

The company will employ 60 staff throughout the area, providing professional residential and commercial property sales, lettings and valuations, as well as agricultural services and surveying.

‘’This merger will allow our Welshpool Livestock Sales customers to benefit from our presence on site and we will be available to assist them from this base on market days and will be easily available from this new office base during the rest of the week’’ said Tony Evans

We are looking forward to our new Partnership in the Oswestry Livestock Auctions and helping new and existing customers in that region

MMP was formed in 1862, while Norman Lloyd was established in 1925.

MMP was named gold winner for the Wales Regional Sales Awards and gold winner for the Wales Regional Lettings Awards at the recent UK Guild of Property Professionals Awards 2018 held in London.
