An expanding Newtown firm is growing further, thanks to the help of another local business.
Station Couriers, which won the Judges' Award at the recent Powys Business Awards, has taken delivery of a new truck from Greenhous Commercials, which has a base in Newtown.
Chris Woonlough, director of Station Couriers is delighted with the livery of the second new DAF purchase from Greenhous Commercials in the past few months.
He said: “We think that the Jamaican Blue with silver is a stunning look and we have had so many positive comments about the new XF, which has been on the road since early September. The XF carries the name of my granddaughter Ava Seren, and she has given the new CF the name “George”.
“The 26 tonne rigid DAF CF will replace an existing vehicle and work mainly around Ludlow, Craven Arms, Church Stretton and Cleehill alongside an existing 7.5 tonne truck.”
Meanwhile success has come the way of Station Couriers as fellow director, Sian Jenkins explained: “We entered into the Powys Business Awards this year in the Growth Award category but were just pipped by another company. To our delight the judges were so impressed by our overall presentations to them when they visited, that Station Couriers was given the Judges Recognition Award for being an exemplary employer.
“All of our staff share in this award and we are all delighted. It has meant many more contacts for us and offers of help to move to larger premises in Newtown which is in our business plan, such has been the growth of the company in recent years.”
