Newtown-based design agency Ontrac is celebrating its 20th birthday with the news that it has landed another prestigious contract – this time producing the poster and graphics campaign for the UK’s referendum on voting reform scheduled for May.

It follows another recent major success – having just completed work for the Electoral Commission designing and producing the graphics and design toolkit to enable all local authorities across Wales to publicise the March 3 Yes/No Referendum.

Montgomeryshire MP Glyn Davies (left in picture) visited Ontrac’s design studio on the Mochdre Enterprise Park, Newtown to toast the company’s success.

He said: “Ontrac’s growth and achievements demonstrate that it’s possible for businesses such as design agencies to be based in Mid Wales and be successful nationally and internationally. Winning contracts to produce materials for both the Assembly powers and Alternative Vote referendums demonstrates great confidence in Ontrac by national bodies.”

Ontrac was born out of the former Laura Ashley design studio in 1991, and 20 years later is now one of the leading regional integrated agencies in Wales, offering branding, design, marketing, exhibitions and event management services.

The company employs 25 staff, and in addition to Newtown, also has studios in Cardiff and Bristol. Its other clients include the Home Office, Laura Ashley, Welsh Language Board, Habitat, Countryside Council for Wales, Castalum, Cotswold Collections, Mid Wales Manufacturing Group, Control Techniques, Willie Jack Dentistry, Welsh Assembly Government, Menter a Busnes, Gregynog Hall - University of Wales, Aberystwyth University, Finance Wales, Powys County Council & Hybu Cig Cymru.

Ontrac’s managing director, Marian Harding said: “I can think of no better way of celebrating 20 years in business than by landing two such important and high profile contracts. For a regional agency to secure this work is a huge compliment to our team. Although we are based in rural Wales, I believe we combine the creativity and discipline of a London agency but with commitment, service and value of a local supplier. Many of our clients have been with us from the start which just reflects our customers’ satisfaction and the quality of our work.”
