11/07/2016 @ 07:55

Opportunities to tender for social housing maintenance works in Powys have been announced.

As part of the commitment to bring Powys County Council’s housing stock up to Welsh Housing Quality Standard there is a continued need to carry out major works of improvement to council properties across the county.

The contracts for delivering these programmes of works will be tendered out for the period 2017-2021.
Powys County Council is inviting applications from registered Construction Line and CHAS (or equivalent) contractors for the following elements of works to domestic properties:
• Electrical re-wiring (primary)
• Refurbishment and installation of kitchens and bathrooms (primary)
• Replacement of windows and doors (primary)
• Re - roofing (secondary)
• External wall insulation (secondary)
• General estate works (secondary)
With exception of electrical re-wiring, work will be split into two areas, North and South Powys. Contractors can bid for and be awarded a maximum of two lots each.
Cabinet Member responsible for Housing, Cllr Rosemarie Harris comments: “The tender to carry out these works is part of a critical programme for us to ensure all our housing stock is brought up to standard in the next two years, and to ensure that we maintain the standard beyond that point.

“We are inviting expressions of interest from contractors with the relevant qualifications to express an interest and find out more. Two events will take place in July for contractors to discuss and ask questions about the process.”
