Retirement advice on offer

19/05/2016 @ 09:39

Mid-Wales people are being given the chance to learn more about managing their money for retirement at an open day later this month.

Independent financial advisers from Wren Sterling will be visiting the Shrewsbury branch of the West Brom building society on Wednesday, 25 May to help unravel some of the mysteries behind pensions, financial planning and investments.

There will also be a special 30 minute presentation specifically relating to recent changes to private pensions, including greater freedom to access pension funds during retirement without an annuity.

Megan Edwards, manager of the Shrewsbury branch on High Street, is hoping the event will make understanding pensions a little less daunting for the general public.

She said: “Pensions, and financial matters in general, can be a complicated subject and our aim through this event is to remove some of the confusion.

This is an opportunity for people to have an informal chat with an independentfinancial adviser and tap into their expert knowledge around investments and financial planning.

“It’s never too early to start planning for retirement so we are hoping this event will prove useful to people of all ages.  Better still, the advisers from Wren Sterling offer fully independent advice.  They are not tied to any particular product provider, so can offer recommendations that are tailored to a customer’s specific needs.”

During the open day, visitors to the branch are invited to speak to the independent financial advisers between 3pm and 5.30pm.  Refreshments will be available.

There is no charge for the event, appointments are not necessary and you don’t have to be an existing West Brom customer to attend.

The 30 minute presentation called ‘Pensions Simplified’ begins at 6pm.  Places are limited and can be reserved by ringing the West Brom on 0345 241 7358.
